Away from this, different perspective says that ASEAN has not clearly shown its role in responding its communities interests. It is argued that in its activity and development during the years, ASEAN seemed exclusive, putting priority on inter-government relations rather than its communities participation. That is why, the write argues that ASEAN must change this orientation, the three pillars in the vision - security, economy, and social-cultural communities - can help ASEAN in developing a stronger regional entity which focuses on the interests of its peoples.
