Isi artikelLow representation of women in parliament is an important issue of democratic transition in many countries, particularly Indonesia Anne Philips, Azza Karam, and Joni Lovenduski in their theories says that low representation of women in parliament causes their unrepresented aspirations in that institution. The tree political scientists argues that only women themselves who can properly channel their aspirations and interests. This research attempted to see the relevance of the theory or argument in the Indonesian parliament. Applying qualitative method, this research examined law making process of 2 bills regarding women in DPR during 2004-2009. The results of the research founded that women parliamentarians have better performance in comparison to male parliamentarians. Nonetheless, it found also here that there are male parliamentarians who have rendered fruitful role in the making of criminal law on against human trade (UU PTPPO) and law on citizenship (UU Kewarganegaraan).
