Isi artikelThis paper examines Japan's industrial science and technology policy in the 1990's. It tries to make an overall evaluation of Japanese industrial science & technology policy, especially the policy initiated by MITI which succeeded in Japan's technological advancement and, through that, economic growth by the 1980's. On the basis of the recognition that with the above success, Japan's industrial technology has been facing a turning point which urges MITI to establish a new and sophisticated policy system, MITI's role at such a turning point isexamined. In line with the above, the basic direction of Japanese industrial science and technology policy in the 1990's is indicated.
