Isi artikel
Adapted from Protection Motivation Theory in health care field, this paper aims to explore the determinants affecting users’ information protection behavior. Research hypothesis of the model are empirically validated using a field survey in Korea. Structural equation modeling is used for data analysis. The results indicate that perceived severity and perceived susceptibility have a positive effect on perceived threat, while perceived threat does not have an influence on users’ information protection behavior. Response efficacy and self-efficacy positively influence perceived responsiveness, while perceived cost does not influence perceived responsiveness. Furthermore, perceived responsiveness has a positive effect on users’ information protection behavior. Different from previous research on adoption of safe-guarding IT,, this study views threat as a virus, and adopts protection motivation theory to explain IT users’ threat avoidance behavior.
