Defects or poor quality in construction can result in very large costs. Even with minor defects, re-construction may be required resulting in increased costs and delays. This alerts industries to the need for more stringent standards and better quality workmanship. A modified mistake proofing approach is valuable and through self, cross and successive quality checks, fabrication mistakes, clashes and hidden changes can be discovered without passing them to the downstream team. With the aid of system dynamics model, this paper concludes that attention should be paid to improve the mechanism of quality checks to maintain good quality and productivity performance.
