Isi artikelPublication of the mass media to popularize one instant to the power of almighty. Popularity of the characteristic in the media as if all things for the community, mostly middle to lower levels of education. Similarly, in the implementation of democratization, as if people just rely on the information presented by the media, an institution that has the task of improving political education people not functioning optimally. The phenomenon is then also developed among the politicians who are more sensitive to the use of media to popularize his name, even collaborating with the artists. Public confidence in the current to his idol in the field of entertainment more attached than political figures. This study aims to provide an overview of how the popularity of the artist in the media can achieve success in world politics. By using the concept of mass communication, especially the theory of functions of the media and political communication, the study seeks to explore the phenomenon. of the artist, as well as members of election commission (KPU) as the primary data, the results of literature studies and observations of the documentation activities of KPU as a secondary data used to analyze the phenomenon this. Data analysis was conducted qualitative descriptive of the phenomenon that develops in the constituency which was won by the artist. The results showed that the orientation of the people exercised the right to vote based on a consideration of the introduction of its popularity as a candidate from the aspect of portraying figures in the media, not to pay attention to the credibility, experience of political and candidate education. Functions of the General Elections Commission (KPU) in socialization is limited to technical aspects of elections, has not touched the ideological aspect.
