Time errors produced by the method of constant stimuli depend on the position of the standard within the range of variable stimuli (asymmetry effect) and on the order of the compared stimuli (presentation-ordere ffect). Both effects were found using the method of pair comparisons. There seem to be one and perhaps two sources of these time errors: (a) greater weighting of the more recent stimulus or response, and (b) assimilation to the immediately preceding response.
