Isi artikelPT. X is an automotive industry that manufactures motorcycles and their components. One of its products is cylinder comp KEHL that manufactured at the Department of Die Casting. So far is found quite a lot of defects in the form of leak on the component (± 69%), which makes the component unusable (reject)). From observations and interviews with employees, allegedly melting temperature and coverall material used in the melting process affects the defects. To solve the problems, then an experiment designing is carried out in order to obtain precise parameter values, to increase quality product. The method used is Factorial Experiments method. Independent variables or factors that are controlled in the research is the temperature of melting process (two levels: 760 0 C and 740 0 C) and coverall dose (four levels: 0.5% (6 kg), 1% (7 kg), 2% (9 kg), 3% (11 kg)). While the response variable measured is the number of standard products (not reject) in one batch (1200 units). ANOVA and Least Significant Difference method are used to know what factors that significantly affect the quality of product and to determine which level of the two independent variables that gives the best results. The results of analysis of variance (ANOVA) showed that the melting temperature and coverall dose significantly affected the quality of the cylinder comp KEHL. There is no interaction between these factors. Temperature and coverall dose level which produce the best result is 740 0 C and 7kg. By the research, there is a decrease in the percentage of defective products is decrease, which is from 69% to 35%.
