Isi artikelTurnout figures will be the most important result in a parliamentary poll When Iran last held a national election, in 2009, it ended in countrywide protests, mass detentions and the eventual house arrest of two presidential candidates, including Mir Hossein Mousavi, who many think actually won. On March 2nd Iranians will have their first chance to vote since then. The poll will decide who represents them in the country's 290-seat majlis, or parliament. A fair portion of the 48m voters see it as a meaningless exercise since the regime prevents potential troublemakers from standing.
