Isi artikel
An analysis of eighty couples' three-year exploration of the feasibility of entering into communal living or group marriage, based on interviews, questionnaires, discussion group notes, correspondence, and anecdotal records. Over 90 per cent of husbands and wives, if employed, were in academic, professional, or managerial positions. Major reasons for wives' involvement: isolation with children, over dependence on husband for adult contact, or under utilization of talents and training;for husbands, concern about the "rat race" or desire for higher living standards;for both, childrearing training, need to expand sexual intimacy, and concern for "what is happening." Three group marriages and three communes have resulted from this exploration
