Isi artikel
Case study, no longer new instrument, is still used today to expose students to a real world approach. At Foreign Business Language Study Program – Politenik Ubaya, English case studies in Business Ethics are used to build students' characters through critical thinking. Yet, there are two challenges the lecturer encountered, they are, inadequacy of English skills and of critical thinking skills, to deal with English business subjects. The method of this qualitative research is through classroom observation (presentations) and written work evaluation of 15-20 students. At first, the students, found it difficult to comprehend the case studies, to connect the theory and the cases; and to formulate their answers. As the semester unfolded, class discussions improved the students' strong sense critical thinking, i.e. 'logic, intellectual humility, courage, empathy, integrity, perseverance, faith in reason, and fairmindedness' as observed and analysed from their assignments/tests and presentations. (Elder and Paul, 2008).
