Isi artikel
The comparison of 100 never-married males with a matched sample of married males showed no statistically significant differences in eight background characteristics, e.g., "state of health." However, two statistically significant differences were found in the "family situations," i.e., the family of orientation being "disgraced" and the father having an unusual work schedule were both associated with non-marriage. The salient finding of this research was the striking similarity between the two samples in the sociological variables studied. The chief implication for further investigation is the apparent need to concentrate on psychological variables in seeking the causes of non-marriage.
