This investigation of the relationship between generational status of an urban ethnic group and family structure concludes that first-generation immediate family structure is closer to the ideal type rural family than is the structure of the second-generation immediate family. However, second-generation persons are more active with their extended family and in nonfamilial associations than are first-generation respondents.
