Isi artikelData from a three-generation sample were used to examine hypotheses about the consequences of intergenerational continuities in socialization for members of the youngest generation. Each generational unit consisted of an independently housed nuclear family linked vertically to two other nuclear families. The findings were that white-collar workers following a family occupational tradition appeared to have higher incomes than white-collar workers lacking such a tradition. In addition, continuity in religious affiliation was associated with less marital tension.
