Isi artikelThe utility of examining the family as a formal organization receives support from an empirical study of 73 families. The interaction between two organization variables, family consensus and problem perception, and the relationship between these variables and the effectiveness of the family in its socialization function are considered. The success of socialization is measured by the adjustment and achievement of the family's adolescent son in school. The findings are discussed the light of organization theory and research methodology in small groups.
