Abstract
PT Suryamas Akurasi or more known as PT Suryamas is a company that produces plastic molds (mold base) by using job order system, producing mold base in accordance to customer request. The company is trying to reduce “the six big losses” that occur during the machining process to improve OEE. All the big six losses will arise in the course of machinery; therefore the company wants to know the reasons and causes of each problem. It is necessary to design an automated data collection system in order to know the actual production time (in real time) and from there, data then can be used to gather analysis on machine performance and effectiveness using the OEE method. Automated data collection system is much better than the daily written reports system that has been done by the company. This data collection system is also very effective and not limited to operator’s memory; because the required data is automatically captured by the system and will
instantly calculate the OEE value automatically. Based on the test results that have been done using a simulator of the automated data collection system, the CNC machine type DAHLIH. MCV 1020, has an OEE value of
37.15%. The OEE value of the machine does not meet the established OEE value standard, which is 85%. The factor that makes the OEE value not reach the target is due to the availability value on the machine. The greatest percentage factors are the feedhold and settings. The length of time required for the process of setting is caused by several factors: limited operator skill, lack of accuracy, diversity of CAM programs, too narrow alley and difficult machine settings.
