Nowadays, in globalization era, technology has become an important part to facilitate all human activities. The rapid development of technology has given an increasement of greater human need for resources. One industry that sells products and services to fulfill the needs is the modern retail industry. The modern retail industry emerges because of the increase in people's incomes that lead to changes in purchasing power and people's lifestyles. Although the retail industry has been evolving, but the retail industry in Indonesia has not utilized technological advances well. One of the use of technology that is not optimal can be seen in the system of warehouse arrangement. In the retail industry, all processes that occur in the warehouse is still ongoing manual. Therefore, before the technology is applied in the warehouse, it is necessary to do the preparation of warehouses with the best method of storing goods. The determination of the best method of storing goods in warehouse will improve the function of the warehouse and the warehouse operations.This study aims to find out and analyze the best method of storing goods in warehouse, using the AHP fuzzy method as a decision-making method. The criteria on determining the best method consist of product characteristics, minimum average time, shortest distance, frequency of goods in and out, demand trend, and warehouse layout. Each criteria in determining the best method of storing goods has different sub-criteria. Based on these criterias and sub-criterias, there will be obtained alternative decisions which consists of dedicated method, randomized method, class based method, and share storage location method.The calculation results using AHP fuzzy method found that share storage location method is the best method of storing goods in warehouse with a weight of 0.603, so it is necessary in the analysis of the determination of methods based on decision-making steps and some literature. |
