Isi artikel
This study aims to present hand anthropometric dimensions of Indonesian Industry workers. The research was conducted in Metropolitan Area of Jakarta, Indonesia. One hundred and nine female workers age between 19-40 years old were participated in this study. Six hand anthropometric data of the subject were measured including: hand length, palm length, hand breadth, maximum hand thickness and grip diameter. The mean, standar deviation (SD), percentile value of hand anthropometric dimensions were calculated. Anthropometric dimensions results were presented in table so that they can easily used by designers. These data were also compared with those of workers from other nationalities: Yordanian, Thai workers, Nigerian and USA workers. Results showed that there was a significant difference of length between Indonesian female workers with Thai female workers (p-value=0.000), with Yordanian workers (p-value=0.000) and Nigerian female workers (-value=0.000). Results also showed differences for other hand dimensions among nations. Further, these differences among countries should be very important and should be taken into consideration in designing the hand tools or equipment that should be controlled by worker's hands.
