Abstract
Backgrounds : Nosocomial infections are the most common adverse events during hospitalization. This infection is usually caused by Acinetobacter sp. with Acinetobacter baumannnii as the most common cause by 80%. Acinetobacter baumannii has the ability to produce resistance to broad-spectrum antibiotics so that the availability of current data on antimicrobial susceptibility is important in efforts to overcome infectious diseases. This study was conducted to arrange antibiogram using data from Sensitivity Pattern of Acinetobacter baumannii at Atma Jaya Hospital. Methods : This study used a retrospective cohort method. Samples were taken from the Acinetobacter baumannii susceptibility test on various clinical specimens archived through the WHONET 5.6 at the Atma Jaya Faculty of Microbiology Laboratory in January-December in 2014-2016. The data analysis is attached in the form of frequency distribution table.
Results : During the three-year period, the highest isolates were Escherichia coli 292 isolates, 240 isolates of Staphylococcus epidermidis, and Streptococcus viridans 198 isolates. Clinical specimens with the highest Acinetobacter baumannii growth were wound specimens (100%), tracheal specimens (50%), and induced sputum (32%). Acinetobacter baumannii is most common in ICU (12.40%), Melati treatment units (4.20%), and Mawar care units (3.99%). Antimicrobials that showed the highest sensitivity are colistin (87.4%), trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole (60.7%), and ampicillin-sulbactam (43.5%).
Conclusions : Acinetobacter baumannii most isolated at Atma Jaya Hospital are on wound and respiratory specimens, and obtained the most in the ICU. The pattern of susceptibility to antimicrobial varies, which shows the highest sensitivity to Acinetobacter baumannii is colistin.
