Abstract
Tuberculosis (TB) is one of the most common diseases in Indonesia, with non adherence to treatment therapy as one of the biggest causes of treatment failure. The establishment of references to improve the application of treatment and to maintain TB treatment of TB patients in Indonesia can be done with qualitative research. This
research is a qualitative study based on phenomenology theory, so that the result can be analyzed inductively by understanding social phenomenon through a holistic perspective, so as to draw deeper and more complex conclusions, looking at the commitment, attitude and independence of the informant. Patients will have at least
undergone treatment for 1 month and still is undergoing their treatment. The number of interviews will be limited by the concept of saturation and the data obtained will
be verified by the triangulation technique. Six interviews were obtained, all of whom had undergone treatment for more than 2 months and 2 of them were on treatment category 2 due to drug withdrawal.
The results of this study indicate that the factors that influence the compliance of pulmonary tuberculosis patients are multifactorial. The results show the individual
factors as the most influential factors, then followed by the therapy factor and the health care service factor, while the social and economic factors that do not have a
significant affect on the compliance of treatment. Factors that are negative to medication compliance are; individual memory, low TB knowledge, drug side effects, polyclinic operational hours and queues for health services. Factors that are positive towards the treatment compliance are; good individual knowledge of TB, high motivation to heal, family and friend support, medical costs borne by BPJS, and progress of individual perceived drugs.
