Abstract
that grows in contact lens solution that may cause eye infections. The purpose of this
journal is to identify the microorganism based on the duration of changing the contact
lens solution used to soak, type of disinfectant, duration of cleaning the contact lens
storage, and the habit of washing hands before removing the lens from eyes.
METHODS: Contact lens solutions that were used to store the right eye and left eye’s
contact lens in accordance with the purpose of this journal, were cultured aerobically.
The medias are thioglycollate broth and Blood agar. The isolates were identified using
automatic biochemistry methods (BioMérieux VITEK® 2 SYSTEM). The results were
tabulated using Microsoft Excel.
RESULT: 16 samples obtained from 8 respondents. 7 samples (44%) are sterile. 19
isolates grew microorganism and Pseudomonas aeruginosa are majority (25%).
CONCLUSION: Microorganism were found in hygienic and unhygienic contact lens
solution. Pseudomonas aeruginosa were found predominantly.
