Abstract
Background : Breastmilk is the first natural food for baby, it contains nutrient that can produce energy for baby also spesific and non spesific imun factors. These imun factors can protect the infant from infection. WHO reccomends exclusive breastfeeding for six months, but in Indonesia only 52,3% babies get exclusive breastfeeding in 2014. Diarrhoea is one of the infection that can be prevented wih exclusive breastfeeding. In 2013 diarrhoea is the first leading cause 29days-11months infant mortality and 18 outbreaks in 2015.
Method : This study uses cross sectional method, by interviewing parents who has children aged 6 -12 months years old about exclusive breastfeeding history and clinical symptoms of Retroviral diarrhoea using questionnaire. Data analysis use Mann Whitney test.
Result : Characteristic data shows that children aged 6-12 months in Puskesmas Penjaringan, North Jakarta dominant with male gender (53,6%) and non exclusive breastfeeding (51,5%). There was a relationship between exclusive breastfeeding with clinical symptoms of Retroviral diarrhoea in children aged 6 -12 months years old (p=0,000).
Conclusion : There is a relationship between exclusive breastfeeding with clinical symptoms of Retroviral diarrhoea in children aged 6 -12 months years old. Children with exclusive breastfeeding dominant with non clinical symthome of Retroviral diarrhoea (72,3%) and in other hands children with non exclusive breastfeeding dominant with acut clinical symthome of Retroviral diarrhoea (78%).
