Abstract
Background. Eating disorder is a persistent disturbances in eating and eating related behaviours. Eating disorders on adolescent is rising in Asia that can adverse physical and mental health. Research on eating disorders in adolescents are still few in Indonesia.
Objectioves. To obtain the result of vadility and reliability test’s of Eating Attitude Test (EAT-26) instrument and description of eating disorder risk in Notre Dame Secondary School student.
Methods. This cross-sectional descriptive research was conducted at Notre Dame Secondary School among 282 students of grade VII, VIII, and IX through consecutive sampling method. The measurements used are demographic questionnaire, and Eating Attitude Test (EAT-26). Data analytics are univariate.
Results. The result of validity and reliability test is KMO value of 0.668 (>0.5) and Cronbach’s alpha of 0.868 (>0.6). There are 276 respondents of this study, 51.8% boys and 48.2% girls, mostly in the aged range 13-14-year-old (34.1%), and 8th -9th grader (35.9%). Eating disorder risk exist among 5.1% students, 4.3% girls, 2.2% aged 13-year-old, and 3.3% on 9th grader.
Conclusions. The EAT-26 instrument is valid (KMO>0.5) and reliable(a>0.6). Eating disorder risk exist in 5.1% Notre Dame Secondary School student
