Background: Stroke causes neurological function barriers. One method to assess neurological barriers in stroke patients is to use the National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS). Body Mass Index (BMI) is assumed to be related to the neurological output of stroke patients. Methodology: This was a descriptive analytic study with a cross-sectional design conducted on 126 stroke patients treated at Atma Jaya Hospital. BMI and NIHSS data obtained through stroke registry data at Atma Jaya Hospital. Data analysis was performed using Chi-Square and One-Way Anova test. Result: With Chi-Square test, p = 0.003 was obtained for the correlation between BMI with neurologic output, and p = 0.026 for the correlation between BMI with motor function. Conclusion: This study found a significant relationship between BMI with neurological output based on NIHSS with motor function based on NIHSS |
