This paper first outlines the basic theoretical principles underlining a sister-class project undertaken between schools in Canada and Greece. The objectives of the project, the problems that arose during the implementation as well as the outcomes thus far are discussed.Central to the successof the projectwas the creationof a learning environment that offeredcognitively demanding educational tasks, assuredcontextual support, and promoted the activation of students’ prior knowledge.
