Isi artikel
We are pleased that our article published in this issue (Chattoo & Atkin, 2009) has invoked such detailed the commentary at two levels. First, we are not sure where or whether Selman et al disagree with our arguments in principle, or why they felt the need to reiterate the developments in policy and practice that we had already acknowledge in our background discussion (the move towards multi-disciplinary team (MDT) approaches and shared models of care). We wonder whether the attempted critique reflects a different engagement with language (such as, notions of discontinuity and tension that they seem to find problematic) that, perhaps, is only superficial. This is interesting since our arguments about inter-disciplinary tensions mirror the challenges already listed by two of the authors in one of their papers (Selman et al., 2007).
