The enormous mudflow created by the May 29 leak at the Lapindo Brantas gas exploration site has caused one of Indonesia's worst ecological disasters ever. Emissions of toxic mudflows have already covered nearly 200 hectares of land. In some places, the sludge has piled up as high as five meters.
