Violence in any kind of form shows the misuse of power, inequality and domination. One of the violence is wife beating by husband. The objective of this study is to explore the level of understanding of Indonesia women on gender equality and equity by analyzing the result of Indonesia Demographic and Health Survey (IDHS) 2002-2003. On women attitude toward wife beating by husband. The variables are tasted by Logistic Regression Analysis and found women that tend to agree toward wife beating those were women who worked as employees and own-account workers, who ever experianced abortion and miscarriage, and women who refused to have sex with her husband when she has recently given birth. The higher the level of education, women tend to more disagree toward wife beating, meaning the higher level of education, the higher the level of understanding on gender equality and equity.
