Background. In Indonesia, HIV/AIDS being an infectious disease still becomes a serious problem. In that way, a kind of process of attitude formation and change is influenced by an alignment of knowledge, attitude, and practice. Objectives. To determine the correlation between knowledge and attitude regarding HIV/AIDS- Practices among the students of SMA Negeri 1 Nabire Papua. Methods. This research is an analytic study using cross-sectional method to 196 students of SMA Negeri 1 Nabire, Papua as respondents. The respondents filled the demographic questionnaire; knowledge, attitude, and practice (KAP) questionnaire. The collected data analysized using univariate and bivariate with Chi Square. Results. There were 196 students of SMA Negeri 1 Nabire aged 14-19; 32,1% was the major age of 17 years old; 53,1% were boys; 34,7% were grade XII students; 48,5% muslims; and 34,2% were Papuan. The major respondents had good knowledge and positive attitude, and healthy practices about HIV/AIDS infections. Chi square test showed a significant correlation between knowledge and practice ((?= 0,000, OR= 14,111), and between attitude and practice ((?= 0,000, OR= 4,648). Conclusions. A good knowledge, attitude, and practice about HIV/AIDS are the protective factors to negative impacts and influences of HIV/AIDS infections. |
