The data of cancer-caused death in Indonesia is not yet available and it is predicted that cancer is the 7tJ>ethiogical factor of mortality. This study was conducted to find out the death rate caused by cancer according to age group, residence, and sex, through analysis of house hold health survey data, 1995. Samples consisted of resident of Java-Bali Island and other islands, which was 79 person each. It was revealed that the mortality of age group of more than 55 years old in each residence was higher than the other group, while the mortality rate of the residence Java-Bali was higher than the residence of outside Java-Bali. Rural residence mortality either in Java-Bali or outside Java-Bali is higher than urban mortality. The mortality of women in Java-Bali is higher than the mortality of man, while in outside Java-Bali the result is inverted.Jumal Epidemiologi Indonesia.2000.4:2:25-28)
