Isi artikel
Currently, breast cancer is the most common malignancy of women in Indonesia and also in United States. Some risk factors are playing roles such as hereditary, hormonal status and diet. Mutations of BRCA-1 and BRCA-2 genes and estrogen exposure increases the risk of breast cancer. Obesity is also a risk factor for breast cancer is postmenopausal women. More than 95% of breast cancer are adenocarcinomas which are dividen into in situ carcinomas and invasive carcinomas. An understanding of the risk factors and clinico-pathologic appearances are very helpful to make early detection of the disease. Early detection and prompt treatment can decrease the mortality rate of breast cancer.
