Capital adequacy is a pre requirement of a bank to face nght competition, either in the domestic market or international market. A low capital adequacy of a bank generates a lot of barriers in term of business expansion. A common measure of capital adequacy is CAR that illustrates the comparative analysis of total capital and total weighted asset by risk (WAR) on a bank. The minimum level of CAR in accordance with international standard formulated in Bank of International Settlement (mS) is 8%. The purpose of this research was to discover how is CAR computation and the influence of Capital Structure could affect CAR. The object of research is bank "T" in Manado. It was chosen because researcher thought that it could be an appropriate sample for the research since all bank have common system. For gathering the best result, researcher used the statistical method of Simple Linear Regression, Correlation Cofficient and I Statistic. By using the statistical tools above, researcher got equation: Y' = - O.220+1.585X1+0.05Y2.' = 3.586+8.016Xl+0.193. Y' = - O.371+3.055x4+0.27y3'. = - 0.142+1.339x5+0.009y. ' = - 0.363+ 1.199 capital+ 0, andV' = - O.569+0.389 wAR+0 For variable X2 does not give any influences because it remans constant during five years. The results were processed by using SPSS program. Result given by T count on K 0.01 is 4.947 T table about 3.365 means that capital is more significantly influencing CAR than WAR. Correlation Coeficientis 0.944 or 94.4% at 0.01 level of significane. It is indicating that Capitalis hightly associated with CAR. The result of research shows the change of CAR during five years, namely CAR in 1995 is 11.19%,1996 is 3.63%,1997 is 4.49,1998 is 9.61, and 1999 is 29.69%. Above all of the findings, hypothesis of assuming that capital strongly affects Capital Adequacy Ratio is accepted.
