Background.. Transgender often experience discrimination and stigma from family and society that lead to low quality of life. Objectives. Find out the association between social support, family support and quality of life among Male to Female Transgender in Sanggar SWARA Jakarta. Methods. Cross-sectional research for 106 MtF Transgender in Sanggar SWARA Jakarta. The measurements are family support questionnaire, Social Support Questionnaire 6 (SSQ6), and WHO Quality of Life-BREF (WHOQL-BREF). The datas are analyzed with univariate chi square test. Result. There are 106 MtF Transgender in Sanggar SWARA Jakarta with average age 28.47 years old, (34.9%) between 25-31 years old, (26.4%) Javanese ethnicity, (35.8%) from North Jakarta region, (51.9%) high school/vocational school, (64.2%) working (67%) low economic status. There are (73.6%) unsupportive family support, (63.2%) unsupportive social support and (51.9%) low quality of life. The chi-square analysis : There is connection between family support and quality of life MtF transgender (p=0.046; CI(95%)=1.004-6.001; Exp(B)=2.455). Multivariate analysis show that age (p=0.046; Exp(B)=2.4; 95%CI:1.015-5.656) has more effect than family support (p=0.047; Exp(B)=0.4; 95%CI: 0.159-0.99). Conclusions. Family support is the biggest protective factor in quality of life of transgender especially Male to Female (MtF). |
