Isi artikelAlthough Indonesia's HIV epidemic was classified as low epidemic in general, however since 2000 in some high risk groups population classified as concentrated such as FSW (Female Sex Workers), IDUs (Injecting Drug Users) and transexsual, HIv prevalence tend to increase. While in Papua and West Papua (Tanah Papua), the Increase of the disease is growing furthur that have been reaching generalized classification namely 2.41% (>1%). This article examines the behaviour on using condom among community in Tanah Papua and among risk groups namely FSW (Female Sex Workers), FSW Clients, transexsual, Gay, Male Sex Workers and IDUs in Indonesia. The data were obtained from community based of the intergrated Behavioral and biological Surveillance Survey (IBBS) 2006 in 10 district in Tanah Papua. the other data were obtained from behavioral Surveillance Survey(BBS) 2004-2005 of FSW and FSW clients 14 provinces, transexsual in four districts, gay and male sex workers in three district and IDUs in five cities. This survey reveals that knowledge og three programatically important ways to prevenet from HIV transmission ABC: abstinent, being faithful and using condom is still concern. Theyoungest and the oldest ages know less the three ways preventing from HIV transmission. it is very corern that always using condoms among risk gorup when they commit commercial sexual acyivity were very low, ranging from 3% to 56% for sex workers and their clients, 17% for IDUs. While among community in Tanah Papua ranging from 2%(highland) to 35% (easy land) when they commit the last sexual activity payment. Findings also show that the use in condomc is affected by condom availability and frequency in suggesting condom use among sex workers. Therefore it is needed to maintain the continuity of campaign on 100% condom use and provide condoms in work places of commercial sex worker and also in all areas in Tanah Papua.
