Abstract
PT. Kabelindo Murni Tbk is a manufactur company running its business in electrical wires, telecommunications cables, and cable equipment for all types of applications. At the production division, operators at each work station has a different workloads. It is becoming very essential to analyze the mental workload, because it can affect the productivity of a worker. Mental workload analysis could be used as a basis for calculating the optimal number of employees, where the optimal number of employees are very closely linked to the efficiency and productivity, as well as the costs to be incurred by the company. For identification the issues approach mental workload measurement using NASA-TLX method. NASA-TLX method's being one of the methods used to calculate the value of mental workload with 6 measurement indicators, namely the Mental Demand, Physical Demand, Demand Temporal, Own Performance, Effort, and Frustation. Based on the measurement of mental workload performed on 111 operators, it appears that the production division of PT Kabelindo Murni Tbk has average Mean Weighted Workload value of 73.77 means that mental work load is included in the high category which is the beginning of work stress. But, there has 2 work stations that have mental work load with medium category that is line 4 and 5. The calculation value of employee requirement theoretically has not given the same result with actual condition at this time. The proposals that can be given to the company is to do prevention and control related to work stress and to solve the problem optimum number of employee that have not been optimal with the increase in compensation accompanied by improving the operational skills of the operator with training or general skills training, and professional skills.
