Abstract
The design of plant layout effectively and material flow planning efficiently is a requirement for the sustainability of economical production activities. The plant layout design activities influence by material flow, mileage, and material handling cost. PT. Intec Persada is a manufacturing company that producing roof especially composite roof, planning to establish a new factory at Sumatra island, which will be used to produce new product that is uPVC roof and WPC board. This condition necessarily requires a good layout design, where the design is done with Systematic Layout Planning (SLP), CORELAP Algorithm and CRAFT Algorithm. The best plant layout results from the method used are layout design with ATBD outflow method for production area and CORELAP algorithm for whole plant layout. Land area for this production is 4693 m2, total distance of material transfer is 817,21 m2, material handling cost is 968.495,32 IDR/day and material handling time 196,16 minutes/day. The percentage comparison of other alternative layouts as follows: mileage moving material 5.17% shorter than the ATBD inflow layout, 10.91% shorter than CORELAP algorithm layout, 8.85% longer than layout with CRAFT algorithm; The area is 1.68% smaller than the ATBD inflow layout, 21.86% smaller than the CORELAP algorithm layout, as large as the layout area with the CRAFT algorithm; Removal of 9.25% cheaper material from ATBD inflow layout, 19.52% cheaper than CORELAP algorithm layout, 0.18% cheaper than layout with CRAFT algorithm; The movement of materials is 3.64% faster than the ATBD inflow layout, 3.43% faster than the CORELAP algorithm layout, 2.60% slower than the CRAFT algorithm layout. The plant layout obtained can be applied for a limited land area (1 Ha).
