Abstract
Defective product is one of the problems faced by PT. Jayatama Selaras in the production of plastic bottles in which the number of defective products that occur close to the limit of 3% owned by the company and feared to increase and affect the production that will be able to reduce the quality of the resulting product. So to maintain the quality of products produced, the company must be able to minimize the number of defective products that occur by making improvements to the production system ranging from defining the source of the defect and fix it so it does not happen again. The methods used to support the research are Six Sigma DMAIC (Define, Measurement, Analyze, Improve, Control) methods to correctly define the problem and find the root cause of defective product problems, appropriate improvements to reduce defective products and subsequent control stages to maintain results Repair. The result shows that the product with the most defective product number is Betadine bottle which of the various types of defects that occur at least there are four types of dominant defects include black spots and flashing on the Primary Process and improper print position and color deviates on the Secondary Process bagina. The calculation results show that the condition of production of PT. Jayatama Selaras is now good enough where the sigma value is around 4.3 to 4.5 and the capability value of the production process reaches an average of 99% but this does not cover the need to improve product quality until it reaches zero defect condition. It is also necessary to control the results of improvements that have been made so that the quality of production is maintained and can be one of the basic in making subsequent improvements.
