Abstract
PT.DIC Astra Chemicals is a company that produced paint for plywood, plastic and textilles. The average demand in 2016 was 115,963 kilograms per month. This high demand was prompting extruder line machines to work for 24 hours non stop. A considerable workload required a comparable maintenance system to minimize downtime frequency. Current maintenance system was not considering the workload. TPM is used to solve maintenance system problems. TPM’s pillars will serve as the basis for finding problems. Planned maintenance pillar and 5S (standardization of cleaning time) pillar are the problematic pillars. The problem with planned maintenane pillar was unidentified life time of machine’s parts. The unawareness of its limitation was increasing the frequency of its downtime. The problem with 5S pillar was unidentified cleaning time. This problem increase the idling time for operator and by that the operators was distracted. Consenquently, the cleanliness of the machine could not fulfill its standard and contaminated the next batch of production. To determine the life time of the machine’s parts, four distributions ( exponential, lognormal, normal and weibull) will be used as a benchmark to establish its pattern. Stopwatch method is used to record the cycle time g and westinghouse method is used to standardize the cycle time. Part with the
longest life-time is blade (1887 days) on pelletizer machine and the shortest life-time is locking bolt (51 days) on tumblr machine. The machine that has the fastest cleaning time
is the mixer machine that spends 9 minutes 22 seconds. The machine with the longest cleaning time is a pelletizer machine that spends 22 minutes 21 seconds.
