Abstract
Some schools have used a permanent rainwater system (RWH) to provide clean water and sanitation facilities, especially in North Jakarta. The final product of RWH is clean water that processed through RWH component consisting of the roof (catchment), gutter (water gutter), filter (fibers, ziolite and activated charcoal). The provision of clean water to the community, in accordance with the quality of safe to use and sufficient quantity for life must meet the requirements of water quality in accordance with Regulation of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia No. 416 / MENKES / PER / IX1990 on Water Quality Supervision and Requirements. The purpose of this study was to analyze the water quality of RWH and propose recommendations related to water quality according to physics, chemical and microbiological parameters.
This study considers two factors: the location of water sampling and school. From the overall research, it can be concluded that RWH water quality from chemical and microbiological parameters that is pH and total coliform area out of the standards and location which tend to worsen the average water quality is in filter and pipe part. Based on this, recommendation is given to replace, cleaning and routine checks to improve water quality RWH. In addition, locations that tend to aggravate the water quality of RWH pH and turbidity parameters are on the roof, so it is recommended to trim the trees if it is overhanging near the roof and leaves and other debris should be cleaned from the roof.
