PT. DIC Astra Chemicals is a coloring-industry for plastic, textile, paint, and plywood. Consumer’s demand increases from time to time which resulted in higher mental-workload for workers within the company. Thus, analysis of mental-workload is necessary for workers to have equal workload and to achieve optimal productivity. Using NASA-TLX method, mental workload analysis is done by observing 6 aspects affecting mental-workload. The six aspects are mental demand, physical demand, temporal demand, own performance, effort, and frustration. The value of mental-workload is used as the basis to count the optimal number of workers working in each department of PT. DIC Astra Chemicals This research results are the average value of mental-workload for all 194 workers at is 74,76, which is within the normal category. There are 7 departments with normal mental-workload, 5 departments with high mental-workload, and 0 department with low mental-workload. In addition, there are 5 departments with an optimal number of workers, 6 departments which exceed number of workers, and only 1 department which is below number of workers. The improvement suggestions are if the number of workers exceed is to increase workload or to decrease the number of workers with early retirement, or to move workers to different shift or do dismissal for workers and if there is a shortage of workers, the company could promote senior- workers so there are new-workers specifically for that position or add new worker. |
