| Atma Jaya Catholic University is one of Indonesian well-known private universities. In accomodating university education, Atma Jaya Catholic University provides numbers of majors that can be chosen by students. One of them is Industrial Engineering, which studies development, improvement, and implementation of integrated system, related to human, cost, knowledge, information, tools, and energy. Industrial Engineering also studies mathemathics, physics, and social science, as well as principals and engineering design methods for determining, predicting, and evaluating results gained by a process. Many focuses that have to be mastered by Industrial Engineering students can cause demands that burden them. Student’s success in balancing and finishing all the works is the standard of Industrial Engineering graduates’ quality. These demands often cause mental workload that exceed students’ capability. Mental workload is assumed to be correlated with students’ performance which is the ultimate point of education. Thus, an analysis of mental workload and performance condition of Industrial Engineering students at Atma Jaya Catholic University are needed to give recommendations for learning system to be more optimal for mental workload as well as students’ performance. NASA-TLX Method is used for measuring students’ mental workload. NASA-TLX is a method for measuring mental workload subjectively, designed to calculate one or more’s mental workload. This method has 6 measure dimensions such as Mental Demand, Physical Demand, Temporal Demand, Performance, Effort, and Frustration. While students’ performance is measured in Self-Assessment Method through GPA and students’ perception of their obligations in carrying their study. The result shows that Atma Jaya Catholic University’s average Weighted Workload score is 81.7, which means that mental workload is optimal enough and categorized as heavy mental workload. This result thus is correlated with students’ performance and resulted as positive correlations, which means increasing mental workload delivers increasing performance. Therefore, Atma Jaya Catholic University should upgrade the subject assignments and practicum reports system that known as the prime activities that cause mental workload to students. |
