Background. An increase in the elderly population with comorbidities, and loss of autonomy causes vulnerability within the health services to Ageism. Objective. To figure out Ageism of the medical students and doctors in the faculty of medicine of Atma Jaya University and influencing factors Method. This research is a cross-sectional study. The sample is 122 medical students and 97 doctors at faculty of medicine Atma Jaya University. The questionnaire consists of questions regarding background, FAQ1, and FSA. The data was processed using univariate and bivariate with independent sample t-test, Mann Whitney, and Kruskal Wallis. Results. The majority of respondents were 25 years old medical students and 25-40 years old doctors, female, Christian, had interacted and form a relationship close enough to elderly, have done clinical contact and have medium level of aging knowledge . Ageism attitudes of medical students (mean = 79.2) and doctors (mean = 75.3) are low, because it falls under the neutral value of 86. The quality of interaction and the knowledge perception on older people lower value of Ageism, and female students and doctors have lower value of avoiding and discriminating elderly. Conclusion. Ageism is below normal. The Ageism of medical students and doctors are related to relationship quality, level perception knowledge about elderly, gender of respondents. |
