Background. Diabetes mellitus is a chronic metabollic syndrom which is characterized with hyperglycemia. Diabetes mellitus could causes many complications, including diabetic foot. Risk factors that affect diabetic foot are age, gender, glycemic control, HbA1C concentration, history of foot ulcer, etc. Wagner classification divides diabetic foot based on the severity of its wound. There is no research yet that study the direct relationship between random plasma glucose (RPG) and HbA1C concentration with the severity of diabetic foot. Objective. To study the relationship between RPG and HbA1C concentration with the severity of diabetic foot. Methodology. This is cross-sectional study using medical records of diabetic foot patients who went to Atma Jaya Hospital within the year of 2011 to 2015. Results and Conclusions. There are 14 patients that fulfilled the criterias of this study. Most of the patients are male (57,1%), and lies within age 46 to 55 years old (42,9%). Abscess and osteomyelitis which are categorized as Wagner grade 3 are present the most (42,9%). Both of RPG and HbA1C variables are distributed normally, but the severity of diabetic foot variable are not distributed normally. Data analysis using Spearman correlation test shows that there is no significant relationship between RPG and the severity of diabetic foot (p value = 0.290), there is no significant relationship between HbA1C concentration and the severity of diabetic foot (p value = 0.564), and there is no significant relationship between RPG and HbA1C concentration (p value = 0.169). Suggestion. Prospective study with cohort methodology and larger amount of samples are necessary for this research. Improved accuracy and completeness of medical records are needed. |
