Isi artikelThe widespread reluctance of marital practitioners to conduct standardized assessments may be indicative of the difficulties involved in identifying and selecting useful measures from the burgeoning assessment literature. To address this problem, a model of marital functioning is presented that organizes the large body of longitudinal research on marriage. For each of the 4 components of the model-involving Marital Quality and Stability, Adaptive Processes, Stressful Events, and Enduring Vulnerabilities-several potentially useful self-report instruments or observational procedures are described.
