Diabetes Melitus is a group of metabolic diseases with a characteristic hyperglycemia that is caused by a defect in insulin secretion, a defect in the effects of insulin or even both. In recent years, the incidence of prediabetes and type two diabetes melitus has increased due to people’s tendency to adopt a sedentary lifestyle. As a country with a high mean carbohydrate consumption, Indonesia has a high incidence of type two diabetes melitus and prediabetes. It is hypothesized that a high carbohydrate consumption has significant effects on prediabetes and type two diabetes mellitus Objective: This study aims to examine the effects of carbohydrate consumption on prediabetes and type two diabetes mellitus Design: This is a cross-sectional study with the employee of FKUAJ, UAJ and RSAJ as subjects. The carbohydrate consumption data is collected using 24 Hour Food Recall while the blood sugar level data is collected using the glucometer Result: Using the chi-square test, it is proven that carbohydrate consumption does not have significant effects on prediabetes and type two diabetes melitus in Atma Jaya Conclusion: Carbohydrate consumption does not have significant effects on prediabetes and type two diabetes melitus in Atma Jaya. |
