The last decade has seen a greater emphasis on both gender-sensitive family therapy and formal assessment. The gender gram is introduced as an assessment tool for examining the influence of gender within couples and families. A clinical example highlighting the use of the gender gram with a premarital couple is provided. Indications and contra indications for using the gendergram are discussed and additional applications of the gender gram are proposed.
