many studies related to writing and genders have been done previously. However, most of them focused more to the general performances of writing between genders and very little attention is paid towards syntactic performance specifically. Based on that fact, it is interesting to find out the syntactic maturity between genders and this thesis focuses on the syntactic maturity between genders at the university student level. Therefore, the data taken is the introduction part of the undergraduate these which can be assumed error-free resulting in easier analysis using T-unit analysis proposed by Hunt (1965). As a result, from the three cases investigated, it is found that female writers tend to produce larger number of clauses and words. However, female writers do not tend to slow superiority in terms of quality in their writings. |
