Abstract
In daily life, people can’t be separated from anorganic materials. It is become worse because of the waste management of anorganic materials isn’t easy and the amount of the waste is much plentiful. One type of anorganic waste that take big percentage is plastic and the ways to manage the waste is to recycle it with crusher machine and remelt it again into pellet plastic. The main problem of the recycling of plastic is the incapability of the plastic crusher. It proven by how small the amount of plastic waste can be crushed, it is only 50 kilos per hour, and how big the shrinkage of the plastic flakes. This research aims to study the effect of the modification of plastic crusher machine. The main part of the machine that can be modified consist of the blade, the filter and the chassis itself. The machine will be used as in Home Industry. The final adjustment of the modification of the machine was set up by the survey from the main user and the selection of main user needs by pugh’s and likert method. The modification of the blade and the filter was chosen because it wasn’t to difficult to modify it and the cost of the modification is expectedly cheap. The cost for the modification is about Rp 2.188.000,00 consist of buying raw material and the manufacturing process. The manufacture process used to modify the machine is cutting, welding and drilling. The result from this modification consist of increasing the crushing speed of the machine, quality of the cutting of the plastic flakes and decreasing the shrinkage level of plastic flakes The speed of crushing of the machine, the size of the flake and the shrinkage point of flake was observed and analyzed and almost 1000 kg of plastic cup and bottle was used to test the macine. As a result, the speed of crushing increased by almost 200% from 66 kg/hour into 173 kg/hour. The quality of the flake also increased and it was marked by the homogeneous of the plastic size. The last performance analyzed was the shrinkage point that was marked by the decrease of the shrinkage percentage almost 25 %.
