Isi artikelSuperantigen is a class of antigens with unique profile which cause non-specific activation of T Lymphocyte resulting in polyclonal T lymphocyte activation and massive cytokine release that can cause diseases such as toxin shock syndrome (TSS). The objective of this article is to discuss the unique feature of superantigen that it by passing the antigen processing mechanism and specificanlly binds to T-Cell Receptor (TCR) Vb segment and forms a trimolecular complex along with Major Histocompatibility Complex (MHC) class II. The method used is library research and other related data. It is important to know that the character and specificity of superantigen to CTR, it can developed methods to prevents or therapy for TSS, for example: immunologlobulin specific to superantigen which given intravennously are able to neutralize superantigen and prevent T lymphocyte activation and cytokine release, so the.
