Debate over religion and proselytizing in Bekasi is taking an increasingly strident tone . At a conference in June convened at a Bekasi mosque attended by members of hardline groups-but also representatives from the mainstream Islamic organizations-perticipants condemned the actions of Christians in the area and called for the creation of youth paramilitary organization to defend Muslims against Christian encroachment.
